ClientHello padding.

Variants

Native

BoringSSL’s rule: over TCP, pad a 256–511 byte ClientHello to 512 bytes.

Off

No padding extension.

ToLength(u16)

Pad the ClientHello, handshake header included, to this many bytes when it is at least 4 bytes shorter (the padding extension’s own header).

Padding is placed last, before pre_shared_key. Like native padding (and browsers), it only applies to the first ClientHello: a ClientHello sent after a HelloRetryRequest is not padded.
