OptPort

Enum OptPort

pub enum OptPort {
    Unset,
    Empty,
    Set(u16),
}
Available on crate feature net only.
Expand description

The port component of an authority — tri-state.

RFC 3986 §3.2.3 port = *DIGIT permits the Empty form on the wire (example.com:). Most consumers treat it the same as Unset for dialing purposes (see as_u16); preserving the distinction keeps the wire bytes round-trippable through owned address types.

Variants§

§

Unset

No :port suffix on the wire (example.com/path).

§

Empty

: present, no digits (example.com:/path).

§

Set(u16)

Explicit port number (example.com:8080/path).

Implementations§

§

impl OptPort

pub const fn canonicalize(self) -> OptPort

Return the canonical presentation of this optional port.

RFC 3986 permits an empty port, but it is equivalent to an absent port for resolution and canonical rendering. Explicit ports are preserved; dropping a scheme’s default port requires the scheme and is handled by HostWithOptPort::without_default_port_for.

pub const fn as_u16(self) -> Option<u16>

Returns the port number, or None for both Unset and Empty. Use this when the wire distinction between “no colon” and “empty colon” doesn’t matter — e.g. dialing.

pub const fn is_explicit(self) -> bool

true for Empty and Set — the wire had a : after host.

pub const fn is_empty(self) -> bool

true only for Empty: present with no digits.

pub const fn is_unset(self) -> bool

true for Unset — no : after host.
